Mavin
Mavin is an organization that aims to create a society that is conscious of racial identity and how complex race can be. It educates communities on the multiracial experience.
Mavin encourages mixed race people to self-identify and be active in their ethnic communities. This is done in order to increase awareness and end inequality. Mavin aims for the inclusivity of all people independent of their race.
Mavin supports two programs, Loving Day and The Importance of Being Seen. Loving Day is a yearly celebration to recognize Loving vs Virgina - the Supreme Court Case that legalized interracial marriage across the US. The Importance of Being Seen is a current interview series commemerating mixed race experiences. It allows multiracial people to share their stories.
In addition to these wonderful programs, the Mavin website also provides resources such as the Mixed Heritage Center. Read more about the Mavin organization at http://www.mavinfoundation.org. If you would like to host your own Loving Day celebration check out www.lovingday.org!
